Welcome

1M1 Records’ new release is a double film score release. It will be available in a month or so, put back a few weeks from the originally announced date of late April. Keep watching the site and the newsletters for confirmation of these details and the exact release date for ordering. The scores are "Tom Sawyer" and "The Last of the Mohicans", both composed by Simon Walker, based on the classic novels.

This year, so far, 1M1 has been still developing the projects announced in recent newsletters. We have also been concentrating on keeping customers and visitors up to date with current releases of all new Australian and New Zealand films and their soundtracks. Although making these new non-1M1 releases available, we have also been adding a few older Australian soundtracks to the 1M1 website every month as well.

This month we have made available the new orchestral score by the Polish composer Klaus Badelt for the current Australian box-office success, with Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom, "Ned Kelly". Also, this month we making the soundtracks available for "Young Einstein" (William Motzing/Martin Armiger/Tommy Tycho), "Hotel de Love" and the acclaimed Australasian film, "The Piano" (Michael Nyman).

In recent months we have also added "The Monkey's Mask" (Single Gun Theory with the Sydney Alpha Ensemble); "Sirens" (Rachel Portman); "Sample People" (Rafael May), "Risk", (Don Miller-Robinson); "Cut" (Guy Gross); the award-winning score by Peter Gabriel for "Rabbit-Proof Fence", (which won the AFI award for Best Score, and was nominated for the Golden Globe award for Best Music score for a Feature Film); "Bootmen" (Cezary Skubiszewski); "Paradise Beach" (the official tv-series soundtrack); and the New Zealand feature film "Rain" (Neil Finn/Lisa Germano).

During the next month we will also be adding the score for the New Zealand film "Whale Rider" by Academy Award-winning composer Lisa Gerrard. Keep an eye on the More Soundtracks page during the next three weeks for the listing of this new score.

There is an update on some recent scores by Australian composers as well.

We also still have copies of "Silhouettes of the Desert" by Nerida Tyson-Chew, and "The Tracker" by Graham Tardif, which was nominated for an AFI for Best Film Score for 2002. Stock is available of Paul Kelly's score for "Lantana", Alan John's score for "The Bank" (AFI-nominated 2001 Best Score and winner of the AGSC 2002 award for Best Score), "The Nugget", "Dirty Deeds", "One Night, the Moon" (the APRA Best Soundtrack of 2002), and "Two Hands".

Collectors Items; rare 1M1 CDs priced in the premium range because of the difficulty in sourcing them, containing 1M1 CDs like "Devil in the Flesh / We of the Never Never", "Roadgames / Patrick", "Race for the Yankee Zephyr / The Survivor" and "Harlequin / The Day After Halloween": items which have very few soundtracks left in stock and are quite unlikely to become available again in the foreseeable future.

New and Upcoming Releases

1M1's last releases were 1M1CD1031, "The Coolangatta Gold" by Bill Conti; and 1M1CD1032, a double film score pairing of "Eliza Fraser" and "Summerfield" by Bruce Smeaton.

Coming next: "Tom Sawyer" and "The Last of the Mohicans" (Simon Walker).

Coming soon: "Bliss" (Peter Best), "Grendel Grendel Grendel" (Bruce Smeaton), and "The Naked Country" (Bruce Smeaton). Also in production are the scores from Ruth Park’s famous "Harp in the South" and "Poor Man’s Orange" (Peter Best).

Recent & New Scoring Assignments

Paul Grabowsky - "Shiner" for director John Irvin, starring Michael Caine. Grabowsky has also been contracted to score the 4-hour Australian mini-series of Bryce Courtenay's best-selling novel "Jessica". This series has an extraordinary, high-quality Australasian cast, including Sam Neill, Lisa Harrow and Leanna Walsman. The director is the multi-award-winning Peter Andrikidis, who with producer Anthony Buckley have in the last two years delivered "My Husband, My Killer" and "Heroes' Mountain" for which they have received a collection of AFI Awards and the prestigious Gold and Silver Palms.
